Every night I do a read aloud with my kids and last month was Charlotte’s Web. The main and well known theme in Charlotte’s Web is friendship. However, as I was rereading the book to my own children the underlying theme of life and death was more apparent. E.B. White’s famous children’s novel focuses on the importance of life as well as the value each life holds, which can easily provoke a pro-life perspective. My favorite quotes are easily transformed into ways to view how I feel about the pro-life movement.

“People almost believe anything they see in print.”

Changing the language of a growing life inside a pregnant woman’s womb to clump of cells, even parasite is causing abortion to be more accepted. This is intentional because people do believe almost anything they see in print. The solution? Talk about it. Don’t be afraid to voice your belief that killing in the womb is wrong. These are babies. Share it to your social media, speak about it at the dinner table with your family, join events supporting pro-life, talk about pro-life organizations with others and support those organizations.

“I don’t understand it, and I don’t like what I don’t understand.”

I don’t understand the pro-choice view. And I don’t like that I don’t understand. So I seek to understand why one would choose to be pro-choice. Why do they believe abortion is okay? It’s hard to put yourself in someone else’s position especially when it is vastly different than your own. However, I believe it is important. When you dig into pro-choice viewpoints, you will start to see the cracks in their beliefs. This can be the eye-opening moment that changes their mind on abortion.

“A little tired, perhaps. But I feel peaceful. Your success…was, to a small degree, my success.”

Charlotte reflects back on her short life as she is dying but she is at peace. What gives her peace is that she saved Wilbur’s life. When you’re reflecting back on your life will you be at peace knowing you helped save unborn lives?

“By helping you, perhaps I was trying to lift up my life a trifle. Heaven knows anyone’s life can stand a little of that.”

Helping others may not immediately eliminate your problems but it assists in figuring yourself out. Humans are charitable by nature. I choose to support Options United for a few reasons. First, I believe that if we do not stand against abortion—and protecting the most innocent during their most vulnerable time in life then all else will fail. When societies fail to protect their most innocent then where does it stop? Second, after carrying three of my own children and knowing them before they were born I cannot fathom how abortion during any stage of pregnancy is acceptable. It is devastating to read abortion statistics—while you’ve been reading this blog post at least five babies have been aborted in the United States (source) . However, this number is likely much higher since the data I’m using does not include California, Maryland, or New Hampshire. And lastly, I support Options United because I know their method is not only efficient but it works. United means uniting the pro-life movement to work together not against each other in order to limit and end abortion. Partnering with pregnancy resource centers in targeted areas by reaching women at the vulnerable moment before they choose life or death for their child.

“Life is always a rich and steady time when you’re waiting for something to happen or hatch.”

The anticipation of a baby is remarkable. For all of mine I could not wait to meet them, hold them, and love each of them in my arms. Every pregnancy is different because each life you are carrying is different yet they are all worthy of your love and protection.
